Dominique A - Music Hall

Year : 2006
Big anxious grey skies
Nail the bathing day to the ground.
The man advances in the middle of the dunes
He walks swaying
He remembers the Music Hall
The long funnel corridor
Where the crowd was unwinding
Dresses hanging only by a thread
And the wet, wet sidewalk.

He advances in the middle of the dunes
Gomina beaten by the wind
He thinks it's eight o'clock in the evening
And he walks down the hall
Where the shoulders rustle as they slip
The crowd takes place in the heart of the dunes
The sea clapped loudly.

"You don't know how to say farewell to it"
Did she tell him last night
"You won't see if I leave
My road does not pass through your eyes
In your head, it's eight o'clock in the evening
Forever, here or elsewhere
It's the velvet of the long corridor
That we would find, if we opened your heart”.

At the Casino which watches over the dunes
The machines wake up, gasping,
A few orphans of the moon
Are already conscientiously working
At accumulating misfortune
A large strong coffee awaits
Near the rattling machines
As he enters, he sees the carpet
And he sees lights from the past.

" You don't know how to say farewell to them
Nor to those big red letters
Nor to the disorder of intermissions
Nor to the curtains which go floating
You remind yourself of the Music Hall
Of some laughter and tightened throats
And the rustling of the shoulders
And outside, the wet sidewalk”

Seaside boulevard, the house
In the heart of other silent houses
Mouths closed once the summer is passed
The table laid, the slender woman
The plate that just needs to be warmed up
And the evening before still vibrating
Of the few brewed truths
He forgives her without an effort
It was too real to touch it.

They kiss, she goes to work
She has the forgiveness of the ghost
And the unshaken hope;
Love rears up in the hall
Where memory has condemned him
With the great swaggering sadness
Of the decayed end of parties
Where the clothes take a break
And the heart is undressed.

And under the gray skies which worries
In the dunes or at the Casino
Among the hiccupping machines
He looks, he sees hoops
Of fires browning the carpet
And he sees some curtains falling
Hands clapping in the storm
Outside.

And he sees the letters
Red, and the crimson corridor
And all the possible of the nights
Which is displayed, red, spelled out
And none of this is over
Love nestles there, unbroken
And all the goodbyes are entangled in it
How to say goodbye to life?

He remembers the music hall
From the long funnel corridor
Where the crowd was unwinding
Dresses hanging by a thread
And wet, wet sand.

Dominique A - Poetry

Original Title: "La poésie"
Year: 2018

Poetry went away
I suspect her of having passed by your place
Of having lied down in your bed
And of having listened to the rain over the roof
She has so little to confide
Not the kind to pour out her feelings too much. A few words
She left over your desk
A few deletions with a fountain pen
Then she went away
Then she went away

It took us a few days
To be a bit less blind and deaf, and find
That the air was a bit less heavy
Our shoulders hunched up a bit more, and think
That after having announced
A thousand times reported departure, she had
Removed the coat from the hook
Where it was hanging for centuries
Then went away
Then went away

Are we lost children?
Forest stretched as far as the eyes could see for the evening
Refuses to abandon us
To let all power to the darkness
On our story gotten off to a bad start
Full moon has been summoned to thwart
The traps of a too dark night
In the area around a slaughterhouse
Without a poem to save us
Without a poem to save us

I don't know why I was thinking
That she couldn't have gone away, without passing
By your place and on your desk
I saw the deletions made with a fountain pen, a few words
Which slipped over my skin
On your face, and on your hands they took
The rythm of a heart on borrowed time
And their skin was weak as well
But one would have to hold onto it
But one would have to hold onto it

Dominique A - Everything will be like before

Original Title: "Tout sera comme avant"
Year: 2004
Everything will be like before
Under the summer coats
Like before existing
Like before
In the congested yard
Girls sitting in a line
Some riders

Everything will be like before
When you'll remember
The snows would have melted
On the clogged earth
In the stumbling evening
I'll tell you
Everything will be like before
I promise it to you

At last, coming back from the avalanche
from the fire perched on the branches
came out out of the long black path

Each drags a child one evening
With a look of having in himself
Absorbed all the nights
Since the beginning
Everything will be like before
Everything will be
Like before

Everything will be like before
When you'll remember
The outskirts of school
Where we were thrown
And the stumbling evening
In the clogged yard
And the merry glass

My legs which come unstuck
Everything will be like before
To start rising
The sky has come to the end of its time
Well enough
Under the scraps of summer
I'd tell you so much
I promise it to you

Everything will be like before
Everything will be like before
Everything will be like before

Dominique A - In men

Original Title: "Dans les hommes"
Year: 2004
And you'll never know
What was bothering him
The children in the yard
Were keeping him completely busy
He opened the window
As if he was ready to burst
Sweet, you joined with him
Saying "Just come eat"

There are too many words
In Men
In Men
There are too many words
In Men
In Men

And they did not come out
As if stuck in the forehead's folds
When smiling you knew patiently
to take them away from him
He told you: You only.
When he wanted to love you
And it was sufficient
Like the sun during the summer

There are too many words
In Men
In Men
There are too many words
In Men

In the houses you go
In a silent yard
The mouths are too small
And words too numerous
To hold

All the shouts in the yard
seem to die down at last
And you'd only be too pleased
That he never admit anything
But there are too many words
In Men
In Men
There are too many words
In Men

Dominique A - To come back to the world

Original Title: "Revenir au monde"
Year: 2004
Didn't see the leaves come
Didn't see the leaves fall
What have you come to tell me?
Why did you come over?
No I did not know
No I did not learn
And how is it already
To not be here?

Make me come back to the world
Touching it without putting gloves on
Even to feel it collapse
Even if it doesn't believe like before
Make me recover my shadow
Lost in the shadow which is holding me
The memories of tomorrow

No, I will not go out
Why did you come?
How did you remember
That I was still there?
Streets, avenues, are doing very well without me
I lived too many things
That I do not understand

Make me come back to the world
Touching it without putting gloves on
Even to feel it collapse
Even if it doesn't believe like before
Make me recover my shadow
Lost in the shadow which is holding me
The memories of tomorrow

Didn't see the leaves come
Didn't see the leaves fall
How do you want to love
When you can't tell
If it's winter, summer
If it's better or worst

You will not insist
I hear the steps creak
She gets ahead of the steps
Of those who are going to leave
Isn't there in me
Someone under the sighs
Someone who would like
to see the leaves come

Make me come back to the world
Touching it without putting gloves on
Even to feel it collapse
Even if it doesn't believe like before
Make me recover my shadow
Lost in the shadow which is holding me
The memories of tomorrow

Of arrows thrown under the roof timbers
Make me come back to the world

Dominique A - Exit

Year: 1999
My love
Greyness has passed
Something must have driven it away

Yet it had covered everything
It had settled like dust
everywhere

My love,
You have seen like I did
Those streets swarming with² people
That state in which people are
for once

It had never been seen on them
That face finally relaxed

My love,
I got carried away
It is not completely over

The streets swarming with people
Emptied

Oh, how you are disappointed
You feel greyness is coming back
Yet, it has not covered...everything
like it was doing yesterday

And if we are well inspired
We should take advantage of it

Dominique A - Nanortalik

Year: 2009
I would like to be anywhere, Nanortalik
In other lands anywhere, Nanortalik
Kissing other musics
Polishing other retorts
Lied down, standing up early morning
The aquatic gold has gone back up
Some boats unload silvered
Millions of scales reddened
Thousands of empty eyes
That are staring at me and that tell me
But what are you waiting for?
Charge toward the unknown, Nanortalik

Aurora borealis help us, Nanortalik
To go round the cape of the swirls, Nanortalik
White mermaids let's meet again
On a ferry-boat of the Baltic
In bed, standing up then let's go toward Nanortalik

Dominique A - A few lights

Original Title: “Quelques lumières”
Year: 2012
Makeshift houses
If I have to I will live there

A few moonstones
I'll be content with

Emergency kisses
I will look for them

From love hangovers
I'll recover

I am not asking for the light
Just a few lights
bordering the side of the river
Up to the street that nothing lights up

From insane fever
If I have to, I will come out

From weary lips
I will tear myself from

I am not asking for the light
Just a few lights
bordering the side of the river
Up to the street that nothing lights up

Darkness is making a sign to me
It finds me perfect
In the day drawing to a close
It likes me

I am not asking for the light
Just a few lights
bordering the side of the river
Up to the street that nothing lights up

Dominique A - The Convoy

Original Title: "Le Convoi"
Year: 2012

They are going forward heavily in the morning that appears suddenly
The road opens up like a wound
that closes up again in their path
And that they open up like a wound

At the foot of big dams, they stop and fall asleep
They dream of fruits and berries
Of coal laid under open-air fire
They dream of fruits and berries.

Soon, soon, you will see them
Like a river birthing to the bright day
Soon, you will see the convoy
And you will be scared of love.

They exchange signs
Like words in an unknown language
From a country that meants nothing
And whose history got lost.

They walk on the corridor
Of a long-term time
They do not flee but they train themselves
to hold the reins of that time

Soon, soon, you will see them
Like a river birthing to the bright day
Soon, you will see the convoy
And you will be scared of love.

People say "The tiredness will kill them, death
is nothing else but the other name of the path they took"
But nothing says, no, nothing says
by looking at them, that they are still alive

Even if they walk and smile at each other
Even if they dream of fruits and berries
That they open the road like a wound
Nothing tell us, no, that they are still alive.

Soon, soon, you will see them
Like a river birthing to the bright day
Soon, you will see the convoy
And you will be scared of love.

Love is the big uncle that leads the convoy
It's the untenable promise, the absolute uncertainty
It's the miracle of a sleep bound to the miracle of the streets
That, inflamed with the same momentum are rising;

A sole hand for guide, the road does not lie
The road will never lie
Wherever she leads, to those who joined the convoy
The road tells everything it knows.

Soon, soon, you will see them
Like a river birthing to the bright day
Soon, you will see the convoy
And you will be scared of love.

It's an immense strength, it's irrigation itself
The flow of blood of the deads that reopens the fountains
The valves that turned, the canals that let everything go through
The most turbid fluids, the saltiest waters.

It's that dreamed burden that leads them and that slows down
The advance of the convoy, the steps are so loaded:
So many efforts to feel flow in ones veins
the flow of blood of the deads reviving the fountains.

Some give way on the way; the road closes back
on them, made up with grass and night;
They dream again and the dream preserves them
They are nor alive nor dead
They are of the shadow that goes pale

Because outside of the convoy
There is no hope to lose
No gaze to capture
No alveolus bathed with light

Out of the convoy
Time is a crumpled note
A bank with frozen assets
A sedentary journey

And there, now, you see them
Like a river birthing to the bright day
And you slip into the convoy
Scared to die from love.

And you slip into the convoy
In the river that carries everything away
A road opens up in front of you
That will close up behind us

Dominique A - For the skin

Original Title : "Pour la peau"
Year: 2001
As you managed to wait.
The way you spoke to her
And as she resisted you
She wanted to defend herself
And it was almost beautiful
To see you both, almost beautiful
Your infinite patience
Her "no", "yes", "not here.
One day it happened
She wanted in your room
And everything went fine
And everything was very tender
But after, as always
It made you feel all peculiar
She washed herself quickly
You knew well how it's but...

What wouldn't you do for the skin?
What wouldn't you do for the skin?

Your blood went hot at once
You feel it run
Carry you anywhere
Make you do a bit of everything, unbridled
There, you are in your bed
And the girl is pretty
And after, you talk
And you say "I have someone";
You sleep under other sheets
For a long time already
That's why you are here
With your blood that sleeps
Under your hands, under your skin;
You blood peaceful finally
Peaceful, him at least

What wouldn't you do for the skin?
What wouldn't you do for the skin?

Dominique A - Marina Tsvetaeva

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marina_Tsvetaeva
Year: 2007
Marina Marina
You know it, here, everything burns
Since the beginning of time, here, everything burns

And the doors and the books
Everything that has a name burns
Everything that has a name burns

And how's life in Paris?
How's life?
The exile and Russia
The heart whitout its roof

You were begging the tzar
to let Razil go
Every crossed bridge
would have been cut off

And the barns and the cities
Everything that has a name burns
Everything that has a name burns

And how's life in Paris?
How's life?
The smothered poems at the bottom of the shopping bag
All the verse spoken hastily, slowed down by the stomach
And the exile Marina
Your Russia how is it going?

And men and books
Everything that has a name burns
Everything that has a name burns

Dominique A - Toward the blue

Original Title: "Vers le bleu"
Year: 2012
A shadow was passing on the wall
At the bottom of which you were waiting for me
The hand laid on the wounds that anyone had done to you

The former evening when I left you
You were gone to get involved
In insane plans that I prefer not to know about

I carried you to our home
Thankfully mommy didn't see anything
I disinfected your knee
And I put you to bed, stark naked

I watched over you the whole day
I told mommy that we had to let you sleep
You were moaning and it was like a love song

But how am I going to do to
cure you of the taste of fire?
But how am I going to do to
bring you back toward the blue?

The next day you promised me
That you will never do it again
Like two days earlier I smiled
And I said I believed you

And the evening come I felt you
burning to tell to the street
The few words it was expecting

But how am I going to do to
cure you of the taste of fire?
But how am I going to do to
bring you back toward the blue?

To bring you back toward the islands
Of childhood and archs suspended
Toward both of us gliding all slender
On our lives like on an embankment

When our thoughts only made one
The sun was the ennemy
We didn't know the night
We had never seen the moon

I'm going to look for you this morning
Like for so many mornings to come
I'm sure you are not far and
And that you wait for me to tell me
that you will never do it again
And that you will let me do
I'll lift you up from the ground
And to our home will carry you

But how am I going to do to
cure you of the taste of fire?
But how am I going to do to
bring you back toward the blue?

Dominique A - The Water Trade

Original Title: "Le commerce de l'eau"
Year: 2001
The falling rain is sweet
And we are making love
Some further down are involved
in the water trade
As they smell a bankruptcy
They take bastard looks
And they make money out of the rain
And we are making love

Barks are running nearby
We see some bailing out
Sending water back to water
The rain however seemed
Innocuous and sweet
Discreet like the moment
that let itself get hung up
And make us love one another

And money is made out of the rain
In the tea houses
Where disapointed settlers
evoke old summers
where noone was spoking
about the water trade
Of that bailed out water
On small boats

We, oblivious of everything
And the world under reach
We do not know anything else
but how to love each others
Transactions are made
up to our own backs
And we get nothing from it
but the taste of the skin

The rain falling is hard
for those who have to row
And who later to drink
Will still have to pay
But as she settles
Like silk, velvet
On the benevolent back
Of those making love.

The rain falling is hard
for those who have to row
And who later to drink
Will still have to pay
But as she settles
Like silk, velvet
On the benevolent back
Of those making love.

Dominique A - That absent gesture

Original Title: "Ce geste absent"
Year: 2012
When she arrived
Dawn was a wreck
Of night wasted
Pretending to be unhindered
Miming the joy of exhilaration
Under the laughters of hazard warning lights
Who never go out really
Tonight you saw me differently.

Because of a moment.
of an eclipse.
of a retained gesture
It would have been better
Even an awkward movement
Even an offended gaze
Rather than that gesture avoided
That absent gesture

We allowed ourselves everything
We let ourselves go
We laughed of seeing the night chasing us
To hear it run after us breathless
But one moment your laugh
slipped, I've seen your sorrow
I continued laughing anyway
And I lost you on the spot

Because of a moment.
of an eclipse.
of a retained gesture
It would have been better
Even an awkward movement
Even an offended gaze
Rather than that gesture avoided
That absent gesture

When she arrived
Dawn was a wreck
A frozen laugh
Like a wound on a face
Un mirthless laugh, gone the exhilaration
Where hazard warning lights are burning
You look at me oddly
Tonight you saw me differently

Because of a moment.
of an eclipse.
of a retained gesture
It would have been better
Even an awkward movement
Even an offended gaze
Rather than that gesture avoided
That absent gesture

Dominique A - The high districts of sorrow

Original Title: "Les hauts quartiers de peine"
Year: 1995
For once, peaceful, determined
Step by step we go back to the
The high districts of sorrow. Did we leave them?
The hardest is coming to an end, you see me
Sorry about that

All the way down below, we stooped to
believing those high districts were
far from us even when we never stopped thinking about them
A single misstep and no other choice
but to go back there

For once, peaceful, determined
Step by step we go back to the
The high districts of sorrow. Did we leave them?
Barely there you already talk about
going back down

Going back down is complicated
I've acquired a taste for those high districts
Those high places without relief, those firm outlines
When down below so many struggle to love one another
then go back up

Dominique A - The New Memory

Original Title: "La Mémoire Neuve"
Year: 1995
My memory has
has deserted me
Finally, I will
enjoy everything without
regretting anything.
Emancipated the future
from the memory

Inevitably, it didn't last
The memory came back to me but
I had an intuition that it was
not mine that I found again.

As a few memories
overcame me I doubted
that they ever belonged to me
them that were streaming without talking

But as they weighed
less than nothing
And that this memory didn't have
any trace of lucky or bad day
Wonderfully, it'd suit me

I who believed it calm
Right when it clung on to me
shortly I believed
it would be able to spare me
the resentments and the bad wine

And today I'm still staggering
under the blow. It really got me
Of course it revealed me everything since
about the heavy past that fell on me

My real memory
would reapper
It'd laugh loudly at me

The other in any case
tightly stowed
Is the patron of my every steps
And I do not recognize myself
Back curved and eyes lowered
Those eyes that are sweeping the floor
Probably for the first time

Dominique A - The Horizon

Original Title: "L'horizon"
Year: 2006
"We won't go any further" the captain tells you.
Too many obsticles today to reach the horizon
Exhausted whales are moaning on the strand
Their blood covers mouths like as many hooks

Like as many hills blocking out the horizon
of crests insensitive to the plains' adagio
"I'm really sorry" the captain tells you
And you feel he talks true and he has a good heart

Since then, the mouth ruby-red, a woman with a harpoon
Who enters inside your walls and bleeds the whales
makes you for months on disdain the horizon
and when you meet him, look down on the captain.

When you go home, you tell yourself you feel fine
The lie is everywhere infiltrated in your veins
so much you like tasting the blood of the whale
that is brimming over the lips of the woman with an harpoon

But one day on your sleeve pulls the captain
Eyes protruding, he tells you: "let's leave".
It's time to get out of the queens' sleep.
Because noone awaits you as much as the horizon.

It's Lop Nur that is hoping for you, The Inlandsis that is calling for you
The Sierra Nevada that is shouting your name at night
And it's the Big Blue that enhances the sky
Each of them asking for you and offering you the horizon

But that one escapes you, stopped in its momentum
through aggressive tops, deep valleys
stone hearted cities with extravagant shapes
See, the beard is growing on you and your pace is slowing down

And you hear afar the moans of the whales
which before ending on the strand have probably
known this horizon about which only the captain
still hopes for both of you that you cross its path

But one day about the silence raising in the vicinity
As your eyes come unstuck, you know that you have been left out
Alone with your old dream which shadow is a vulture
that under your rags feels the flesh drying up

And as in slow circles, he comes to engage you
the scenery flattens, the curves come apart
Everything frees itself, yes, no doubt weary of waiting for you
it's it coming toward you; it is there: the horizon
